Directions

The Cedars Retreat Center is located on an 83-acre parcel of an old growth, western red cedar and hemlock forest with one-half mile of river frontage on the North Clackamas River. Just 45 minutes from downtown Portland and Portland International Airport, The Cedars is a short trip into the serenity of a Pacific Northwest forest.

General Guidelines
The Cedars, deeded to Concordia University, Portland in November of 1994 and extensively renovated shortly thereafter, functions as an environmental education facility as well as a retreat center. The site provides greater Portland with a truly unique resource. For this reason, we have specific benefits and guidelines for all retreat and/or conference guests.

Access Road
The last leg of your trip to the Cedars is a one-lane gravel road that we share with our permanent neighbors. Please observe the "off road, rules of the road." The vehicle proceeding downhill has the right of way. This means you must back down to a spot where you can safely yield to that vehicle. While the speed limit is not posted, it is
10 mph, please observe this at all times.

Barrier-Free Facility
We have a predominantly barrier-free facility for wheelchair access and the physically challenged.

Fishing
Fishing on the Clackamas River is permitted, per Oregon Fish and wildlife regulations.

Non-Smoking Policy
All indoor facilities, conference rooms, sleeping rooms, dining room, etc. are designated as non-smoking. The grounds of The Cedars are also non-smoking. Smoking is allowed outside in the designated area only.

Occupancy
Occupancy is limited to 30 overnight guests. Total occupancy for the lodge and the grounds is limited to 40 persons at anyone time.

Pets
Pets are not allowed on the grounds or in the lodge at any time, with the exception of seeing-eye dogs.

Camping
Recreational vehicles, tent camping, and open fires are prohibited at all times, anywhere on the property.

Vehicle
Parking is restricted to designated areas around the lodge only. Please drive carefully on the dirt road leading down to the lodge. It is only one lane. Please observe the 10 mph speed limit.

Minors
Minors must be supervised at all times. One to five minors require one adult chaperone, 15 to 30 require two chaperones.
